Vocational Manpower Development Center

Ahmadiyya Nigeria scheme to alleviate poverty and empower members...

The Vocational Manpower Development Centre was formerly setup as the Poverty Alleviation Committee (PAC) in 2014. The name was later changed to the Economic Empowerment and Development Committee (EEDC) and currently, Vocational Manpower Development Centre (VMDC). The VMDC focuses on empowering the youth and women in Nigeria towards the attainment of economic independence. To date, the committee has organized sensitization workshops, economic empowerment seminars as well as 3-month empowered programmes for female and male members of the Jama’at. So far, VDMC has organized 4 batches of the Women Empowerment Programme (WEP), and one batch of the Men Empowerment Programme (MEP).

The empowerment programme trains students in three learning sections:

(1) Fashion Design

(2) Hand Craft (Bag making, shoemaking, home tools, wears, throw pillows, toiletries, etc); and

(3) Catering and event planning.

Other courses to be introduced soon are Entrepreneurship and Business Management, Coding, etc
